Styles of Men’s Dress Shirts
Men’s dress shirts are a universal men’s wear that can be found all over the place, from the Wall Street all the way to the White House. This ubiquitous men’s dress shirt are so versatile that it can be stylishly casual or elegantly formal. Regardless of the cost of your dress shirt, though, it will still look like a total fashion mess if it does not fit you properly. The fit is the secret to that dapper, stylish look a dress shirt imparts to a wearer. The cut is also an important consideration when getting yourself a dress shirt. The right cut for your silhouette will give you polish and sophistication. Here are the different cuts of men’s dress shirt, check which cut or style best suit you:

The French Cut/Slim or tailored
The French cut or the slim and tailored dress shirt is the most fitted design for dress shorts. It has a tapered silhouette that follows the natural male form. This dress shirt cut is best for lean men or men with trim torso. Fitted though does not equate to tight. Your dress shirt is too tight when the shirt opens between the buttons when you sit down or move around. The shirt should reach the crotch area so that it won’t become untucked.
The English Cut/Regular Fit
The moderate or conservative cut for a dress shirt is the English cut. It is not as tapered as a French cut but not as loose as the fuller cuts. It is considered a regular fit that is best for men who like their shirt a tad fitter.
The American Cut/Full fit
The fullest cut is the American cut or the full fit. This type of cut is best for men who are not very comfortable wearing tapered shirt or shirts that flaunt their torso. Photo Copyright of PR PHOTOS

Fashion Tips for Men – How to Choose a Dress Shirt
A dress shirt is a fundamental must – have in every guy’s wardrobe. But choosing a dress shirt can be daunting with the wide range of dress shirts available in the market. Some guys end up with dress shirts not to their liking and relegated to the very back corner of the closet because somehow they just do not look or feel right. Be familiar with these basic rules to ensure that you get the right dress shirt every time you shop.

• Very basic in choosing a dress shirt is the size. You should know your exact measurement and size before you even go shopping for a dress shirt.
• Next consideration would be the style. Dress shirts come in three major styles; full, regular and fitted or slim fit. A full dress shirt is rather loose, regular would be normal- not too loose and not too fitting, while the fitted or slim fit is form fitting with barely an extra inch or two on each side of the waist. Decide which style would suit your body built best and make sure that you try them on in the shop before buying them.
• Colors and patterns should be the next factors to consider. White is the most classic dress shirt that works well with almost anything from denims, dark colored pants and sports coat such as black, navy or gray and can be worn casual or formal. A guy needs to have at least one white dress shirt. Other pastel colors such as light blue and even pink are also good choices but so are darker colored dress shirts such as maroon. The key to choosing the right color for a dress shirt is matching it with your skin tone. Patterns or prints such as stripes are also available for dress shirts. In choosing a stripe dress shirt, make sure that it matches with the prints or patterns of a coat you will wear it with.
Other things to consider in choosing a dress shirt besides size, style and color/pattern would be the detailing of dress shirts such as the collar, the cuffs and pockets. Make sure that the details of the dress shirt you are buying are exactly what you prefer. Photo Copyright of PR PHOTOS
The Bohemian Style and Look for Men
Bohemian fashion embraces a wide range of looks in clothes and accessories that put emphasis on individualism and nonconformity. The term Bohemian was introduced in Europe in the 19th century to identify the dilettantes of the era – men who were more concerned in the arts than in a career or patriotic duty. In the UK they were the dandies like Lord Byron and Charles Baudelaire. In France they were “flaneurs” or men in a frock coat and ruffled shirt more interested in “walking and experiencing the city” and reciting poetry in Paris cafes.
In the 20s expatriate American writers and artist, the likes of Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald and John dos Passos, known as the “Lost Generation” swarmed Paris. They were characterized by their loose jaunty clothing a little tattered at the cuffs for men and short hair and comfortable clothes for women, the bohemian look of that generation.
In North America, the best expression of the bohemian fashion and lifestyle were the Beat Generation and the Beatniks. The beats were the all underground, non-conformist black and white clad writers of the 1940s .In the 50s the Beatniks came along, a wider social movement that displayed the external and shallow aspect of the Beat Generation in their all black berets, turtle necks and beards.
In the 60s the bohemian all black look of the beatniks was superseded by the vibrant colorful costume of the hippies. They wore clothes that were an expression of their unique individualism and as a protest to social evils. The key word was “freedom” or “free look,” their own fashion statement that has no bearing with any typical fashion line. Bell-bottom jeans, hipsters, ankle fringes, wide belts and flower patches as well as tie dye shirts.
The 21st century male who wants to adopt the boho-fashion has the option to go romantic like the dandies or the non-conformist look of either the beatniks or the hippies. Take note that the bohemian look of the beats and beatniks is diametrically opposed to the “free” fashion style of the hippies. Mixing and matching is possible as long as you limit it to two styles per outfit. Give free reign to your individuality and think creative radicalism. Incorporate essential clothing or accessory elements of the era of your choice in your outfit such as a long knitted scarf, jeans with holes or an embroidered jeans are some male boho inspired look.

Mens Fashion Trends, The Classic Smoking Jacket
Mens Fashion Trends, The Classic Smoking Jacket
Many years back, the mention of a smoking jacket conjures the image of an elderly profligate man receiving company at his manor with a pipe clamped together in his teeth, flanked by bunnies on both sides; Hugh Hefner, the Playboy mogul personified. This extremely romantic and luxurious article of clothing has come to signify a hedonistic lifestyle of a not so long ago past. Something as classic as a smoking jacket, however, will never be totally relegated to the past. Variations of this elegant garment continue to be worn on various events and occasions in the present generation.
The classic smoking jacket is an external garment meant to be worn to protect the inner garment from the smoke of a pipe or a cigar. It is a mid thigh – length coat made of silk or velvet, or both, with a shawl collar and turn-up sleeves belted to close or provided with buttons or toggles. Famous men photographed in a smoking jacket are the likes of Cary Grant, Noel Coward, James Bond and of course Hugh Hefner. The idea of a stylish jacket for entertaining such as the smoking jacket has never really gone totally out of the mainstream of men’s formal clothes. Today even if a man does not smoke, the smoking jacket is a wonderful garment for entertaining at home, or as an option to a tuxedo at black tie affairs or for simply relaxing at home. Crop Top for Men – Would You Wear One?
Crop Top for Men – Would You Wear One?
A crop top also called a belly shirt, midriff shirt, half shirt, tummy top or short shirt is a T-shirt with the lower part of the shirt severed exposing the wearer’s belly. On the runway for the spring and summer collection this 2011, specifically at the Milan Men’s fashion week crop top for men shared center stage with some of the most fun and coolest men’s fashion for summer. Crop tops showing off their hot bodies and sculptured abs were on display, a real treat for all the women spectators.
Male fashion designers really went to town with belly-revealing hoodies, jackets, t-shirts and more. Men on the runway were seen exhibiting their six pack abs in crop tops for men popularized by the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Jennifer Lopez. At the Calvin Klein Collection for Spring/Summer 2011 during the Milan Fashion Week, Italo Zucchelli, a non-conformist and never been one to stick to Calvin Klein’s traditionalism, came up with several crop tops. An example is a box – like crop t-shirts paired off with a tiny-teeny swim bottom that hides almost nothing.
Crop tops are no longer just a female outfit after that display on the runway. But it is not an outfit for everyone nor is it a right fit for every man. For those who have something to show, they could try a few to see if a crop top will look good in them. But if you have nothing to show off, then stay away from a crop top. If you are the guy who is perpetually overwhelmed by the quandary of whether to tuck –in or tuck-out a shirt then maybe the crop top is the final solution to this dilemma. A more modest way of wearing a crop top is layering it with a longer top under it. However it is worn it still will take a lot of gumptions for most men to be seen in a crop top.
2011 Fashion Tips for Tall Thin Men
2011 Fashion Tips for Tall Thin Men
All men are not born equal. Some are gifted with a classic and perfect body that is the envy of every male. But most are physically challenged with either a short, stocky stature or even a tall thin figure. Of course exercise can help a lot in trimming down a hefty body or putting some flesh on a thin, frail frame. But height is something that cannot be remedied. Your best bet, if you are one of these physically challenged guys is, to at best conceal or disguise this imperfection with the way you dress.
When you are the tall and lean guy stay away from stripe clothes, either top or bottom, particularly pin-stripes. Stripes will put more emphasis on your height. Solid colors, horizontal stripes and even big plaid or checkered patterns are your best choice for tops that fit but do not cling or are too large. Choose materials for tops that do not cling but are soft and provide fullness. One button shirts with spread collars or polo neck will also look. Padded jackets, suit coats and blazers are not for you.
For pants and trousers, go for the straight leg pants and avoid the skinny leg jeans or tapered –leg trousers since this will only make you legs look thinner and longer. Cuff and pleated pants and will look good on you. The cuffs will break the height illusion while the pleats will add volume to your frame. Get away from low-rise jeans; wear your trousers on the waist.
Wear tops and bottom with different colors to break the visual effect, a one-colored suit will give emphasis to your height. Tall is good, but coupled with a thin frame is rather awkward. But if you carry it off with aplomb by knowing what best suit you, that extra height will be to your advantage. When you wear clothes put together perfectly that you know will look good on you, that confidence you exude will be a great drawing power.
